Yay for Fireworks!

We are having a great weekend and it is still going on since today is Memorial Day! Don't you just LOVE 3 day weekends? Me too :)

We have been uber productive getting our house ready for a baby shower next weekend for our dear friends Lauren and John who are having a baby boy (Mr. Austin David) roughly 2-3 weeks after me. (They had the Gender Reveal party that I posted about in April.) We have been cleaning, scrubbing, scrubbing, and cleaning and its going well. I called Stanley Steemer to come out and deep clean the living room and hallway carpets on Thursday so they would be super sparkly and clean for the shower, and for Logan's arrival in July.

This weekend was also Riverfest www.riverfestarkansas.com which is a local arts and music festival for families in the downtown Rivermarket area. It has grown so large in the past few years and honestly, Trey and I haven't gone in a while. It is just so crazy, hot, sweaty, and expensive. The buttons this year were $15 before and $30 at the door which is insane - I remember when they used to be $3-5 dollars for the whole weekend! Geez, I must be getting old!
Anyway, they always have good fireworks on Sunday night and Somerset works downtown along with me and her office has a great view of the skyline on a balcony for FREE. So, we loaded up and parked for FREE in the hotel I work for and then walked a few blocks to her office where we were on a super nice patio/balcony and got to hear the music from Riverfest and see the amazing fireworks right over our heads - talk about awesome! And it was ALL FREE, you are feeling my excitement right? :)
So I took a few pics - they didn't turn out so great, but here you go so you can get an idea!

The CRAZINESS down below - soooo glad we weren't in the mix of all that.

This photo is actually from last weekend - whoops! We went to eat mexican food on Sunday night with Trey's friends since Daryl and his wife Lucy were in town from Canada. They have a cute little boy, James who was very well behaved through dinner. It was neat hanging out with all of them listening to old memories and stories.
From the left: Trey, Daryl, Tammy (Master T) and Bruce. They also all took Taekwondo together and Master T owns the business they taught at for years. It was a great reunion!

Updates on the Nursery! We got our changing pad and cover in the mail and put it together. It is all ready to hold a precious baby booty!

My diaper stacker - I tried to find a cute polka dotted one to match the bedding but came up with nothing. But this is perfectly fine - very simple and does blend in well with the light blue in the bedding.

Freshly washed blankets, burp cloths, and bibs

Washed clothes - pants, onesies, and sleepers all different sizes!

This boy will DEFINITELY not forget his name with all the monogrammed items in his room! I ordered this a while back from etsy.com and it just came in - a sweet little bucket (maybe for Easter) with his name on it - too cute!

Sweet newborn socks - look how tiny they are!!

My project - I bought this letter "L" from Michael's craft store for cheap and decided to paint it to match his room. It was super easy and I think it came out great! Now...where to put it... :)

We are going to get a few more things checked off the list today, but then relax before the work week starts. Luckily, I am taking off Thurs and Fri to prepare for the shower - so I have a SUPER short week! We hope everyone has a wonderful Memorial Day and we are lifting our soldiers and their families up in prayer during this day - not forgetting the true meaning of this holiday weekend.
