Relaxing weekend with a side of DRAMA!

A little love is in the air!

I just LOVE holidays - (no surprise here) so I was so excited when I thought to have a Vday tree! I already had a pink tree and just bought ornaments from hobby lobby. I also had left over
garland from Christmas so I made a Valentines garland and put the rest of the ornaments and a few hearts in the mix.

Onto our weekend...
We went to fayetteville to visit Irene and Luke before Baby Cole arrives in a couple of weeks! We were so excited to have a night away from the baby and to spend some time with our dear friends. We drove up later Sat afternoon and made it there by dinner. We ate at Red Robin (never been there before and it was tasty!) After dinner the boys went out since this will be one of the last times Luke can have a guys night for a while and Irene and I stayed in and talked about the nursery, organization of said nursery, and all things BABY! Shocking, I know :) It is so funny the differences in men and women. ha!

We stayed up until 1 am which is almost unheard of at the Gould household these days. But I didn't have to get up with a baby so it was alright - the guys made it home a little later and we were fast asleep when our cell phones rang. I finally woke up enough to answer and it was our alarm system saying there was a glass shatter in the kitchen! WHAT?!! To make matters worse our poor Sophie was staying at the house by herself! I freaked out and asked them to send a police officer over to check the house out. Sometimes if it thunders it will set off the alarm or if a loud noise happens - but its rare. The lady suggested that our dog probably jumped on the glass and I kindly told her a 5 pound Chihuahua definitely couldn't make the alarm go off!

So, that pretty much ruined any sleep we WOULD have had. The police officer told our alarm company that he didn't see anything - no broken glass thank goodness. But I was still very worried about Soph. My MIL was coming to check on her and spent time with her Sat evening, but this was at 4-5 am - just strange.

So - we talked to Vivian later that morning and she was sweet to come over to the house to check on everything and Sophie - all was fine which made us feel so much better. But you just feel so helpless when you are out of town and you get a phone call like that. Ugh. So - needless to say instead of gaining extra sleep we lost TONS on our overnight trip. Oh well - there will be other times. I am just so very thankful everything was okay and no one tried to break in - the dog is fine, and that is really all that matters. :)

Look at the glowing Mama-to-be! Precious!

I wished we lived closer - miss her already!!!

And for your Logan fill - here are some recent pics - YES - that is a wubbie, we all know he hates pacis or soothies anything like that. But he is now chewing on them I think because his gums are sore from teething. At least he can use it now!

Hugging Morty the Moose

The past couple of days Logan has perfected rolling over from back to stomach - only in his crib. He constantly does this new trick before nap time and bed time. I had to turn him over 5 times this morning for his nap! Once he gets there - he plays for a second then realizes he can't turn back over and cries. I usually give him a little bit to see if he will figure it out - but he hasn't yet. The crying just escalates.

Hopefully this will be a low key week - I need to really do some cleaning and organizing in our guest bedroom and tear down boxes in the garage. Fun times - I know you are jealous :)

6 Month Checkup

Isn't this the life? She lives for the morning sunshine - she basks in it all morning or until she is so hot she is panting and hot to the touch - silly Chihuahua :)

my 2 favorite guys

We went to his 6 month doctors appointment yesterday and this is Logan in the main waiting room. Don't let this sweet pic fool you, right after this photo he started fussing and nothing calmed him down. We had to pull him out so he could see everyone. Then, he took his toys to play with. Almost gone are the days when he just stayed in the car seat the whole time :)

Feeding him a bottle in the waiting room before

He did pretty good - since he is so much more aware now, he cried when the nurse took him from us to measure him and weigh him. He could see us in the background and I think that made him cry even more :(
Stats at 6 months:
Weight - 17 lbs and 13 oz 52%
Length - 26 1/4 39%
Head - 17 1/4 48%
I had my list of questions to ask Dr. Youngblood. I just love her - she is so calm and sweet. We are lucky we found her! I told her he has zero interest in rolling over (in fact he screams every time he is on his tummy and done playing - he just won't do it) she asked if we'd seen him do it before and we have, so she said no worries. That is just his little personality - ah a feisty one I see :) He is sort of sitting with support - but doing better each day! She held him and commented on what good support he has with his head and how strong he is while he stood on her.
I also asked her about food - there are so many conflicting articles out there. Feed them 3 or more times a day, before bottles, after bottles, less than 3 times, only 1 time with rice cereal, no meats until 8 months, meats before 8 months...........blah blah blah. It is confusing and exhausting to read! So, she said they are just testing food out - getting used to all these different flavors and learning to use the spoon. So, she said some babies only want a few bites twice a day and some want 3 meals at 6-7 months. So, we are going with what we think - Logan seems to love his highchair and meal time, so we are doing rice cereal every morning after his first bottle of the day. I think I will start adding fruit to that as well.
Then, I am offering 2 other foods twice a day after the rice cereal. This week has been carrots or avocados, or sweet potatoes and avocados. I need to go to the store this weekend and buy green veggies and fruit to start that. He is still loving the avocados. He eats the whole bowl which is 2-3 tbsp! He still doesn't like the carrots or sweet potatoes. He actually refused the carrots again today so we'll keep trying. But he might just not like them which is totally fine :) Lets be honest, I ate the mess out of some avocados (hello Guacamole!) during pregnancy and while I'm pumping. But haven't eaten carrots hardly at all. Just don't like them very much - unless they are dunked in ranch! And I don't like cooked carrots. Coincidence? Hummmmmmmmmmmm :)

yep. icky sweet potatoes

wait! maybe I like them now?

nah - just teasing you! He spit them all out after this photo and refused anymore - ha!

Party in Logan's crib tonight y'all. Read his shirt for instructions...

Long boy!

She said to start a sippy cup at 9 months to get them used to holding it and he might even try to drink from it to start the weaning process from a bottle at a year. We don't go back until 9 months and no shots at that appointment! He did okay with shots this time, he got so many - poor little guy. He screamed while they were happening - but as soon as I picked him up he was fine. But, today he has been very calm and not moving his legs hardly at all. One of his little legs is red and probably swollen/sore. We gave him some Tylenol to help - he just lays on his playmat not moving. Poor baby! He also got a flu shot - which was recommended by the Doctor. He has taken a very long nap today which is not normal - he is still taking only 3-4 15 - 30 min naps every day.
Also, the last 2 nights he slept all the way through the night 7 pm - 7:30 am! He usually gets up at 4-5 am for a bottle then goes back down until 7-8 am, but not the past couple of nights - I wonder if its the extra food he is getting? He ate the whole bowl of avocados at 4 pm yesterday and that is a lot of calories, etc and he drank his bottle like usual at 6 pm. We'll see!
We are just so thankful and beyond blessed to have such a happy, healthy little boy - makes momma's heart happy :)

Avocados Anyone?

Logan getting ready to try avocados - he is so interested in these bibs!

First taste...

second taste...

Wiping his mouth - see I wasn't lying :)

and a SMILE! Hooray - he likes avocados!!!

Definitely my child - I heart avocados.

watching daddy being silly

Thank you again for wiping your mouth Logan - huge help to mommy and daddy :)

Eagerly wanting another bite -

Sucking off the avocado remnants - ha!

Avocado was yesterday and we tried carrots again today. He seemed to like them a little better! I did add some breastmilk so maybe that made a difference? Since it incorporated a familiar flavor he is used too - not sure but he swallowed a few bites so that is progress! Next up - Sweet Potatoes - yum yum!

The photo session went wonderful - I was worried about how he would do since it was around his second naptime but he lasted almost a full hour - we had him smiling and laughing. I think she was able to get some great shots - can't wait to see a preview!

I am feeling great - been exercising with my turbo jam dvds and getting back in the groove. I did it 4 days last week and will start back up tomorrow - I have been doing the dvds while Logan plays and swings, but am gonna try to do it during naptime tomorrow. I end up having to change him into different play things a few different times during the video and it might be easier if I just try to get it done while he is asleep - without waking him up! Whew - wish me luck :)

Gotta run - Trey's making Potato Leek soup for dinner and I m STARVING! I will do an update after our 6 month doctors appt on Thursday - can't wait to see how big this boy is getting!

And... He hates Carrots

Daddy got Logan all ready to try carrots today - we were so excited and I worked hard to steam and puree them to perfection so he would love them - his first REAL food other than cereal, which lets be honest, tastes mostly like breast milk.
And he takes the first bite!
Wait for it...the verdict?
Pure hatred. Yep. He made the most awful faces.

He even turned his little head away in total disgust.

Call me unrealistic, but I had big dreams that he would taste all that fresh yumminess and be in pure bliss. Reaching out his tiny baby hands for more, scraping the very last drop of carrot-y goodness from the bowl and licking the spoon. Then, smiling letting me know he loved every single bite. Manna from heaven.

Oh well, back to reality :) I know it will take a while before he gets used to all these new flavors. Going from milk to this is a HUGE transition!
I put the rest into these cute little cups for storage in the fridge/freezer.

We finally did get a smile - daddy is so funny!!

May I be excused please?

Just look at that sweet smile with his morning cereal.

Wanting every last drop!

Told ya - daddy is the funniest!

Here is a video clip of eating carrots
Avocados are on the menu for tomorrow - along with our 6 month photo session!! :)
