Yay for Fireworks!

We are having a great weekend and it is still going on since today is Memorial Day! Don't you just LOVE 3 day weekends? Me too :)

We have been uber productive getting our house ready for a baby shower next weekend for our dear friends Lauren and John who are having a baby boy (Mr. Austin David) roughly 2-3 weeks after me. (They had the Gender Reveal party that I posted about in April.) We have been cleaning, scrubbing, scrubbing, and cleaning and its going well. I called Stanley Steemer to come out and deep clean the living room and hallway carpets on Thursday so they would be super sparkly and clean for the shower, and for Logan's arrival in July.

This weekend was also Riverfest www.riverfestarkansas.com which is a local arts and music festival for families in the downtown Rivermarket area. It has grown so large in the past few years and honestly, Trey and I haven't gone in a while. It is just so crazy, hot, sweaty, and expensive. The buttons this year were $15 before and $30 at the door which is insane - I remember when they used to be $3-5 dollars for the whole weekend! Geez, I must be getting old!
Anyway, they always have good fireworks on Sunday night and Somerset works downtown along with me and her office has a great view of the skyline on a balcony for FREE. So, we loaded up and parked for FREE in the hotel I work for and then walked a few blocks to her office where we were on a super nice patio/balcony and got to hear the music from Riverfest and see the amazing fireworks right over our heads - talk about awesome! And it was ALL FREE, you are feeling my excitement right? :)
So I took a few pics - they didn't turn out so great, but here you go so you can get an idea!

The CRAZINESS down below - soooo glad we weren't in the mix of all that.

This photo is actually from last weekend - whoops! We went to eat mexican food on Sunday night with Trey's friends since Daryl and his wife Lucy were in town from Canada. They have a cute little boy, James who was very well behaved through dinner. It was neat hanging out with all of them listening to old memories and stories.
From the left: Trey, Daryl, Tammy (Master T) and Bruce. They also all took Taekwondo together and Master T owns the business they taught at for years. It was a great reunion!

Updates on the Nursery! We got our changing pad and cover in the mail and put it together. It is all ready to hold a precious baby booty!

My diaper stacker - I tried to find a cute polka dotted one to match the bedding but came up with nothing. But this is perfectly fine - very simple and does blend in well with the light blue in the bedding.

Freshly washed blankets, burp cloths, and bibs

Washed clothes - pants, onesies, and sleepers all different sizes!

This boy will DEFINITELY not forget his name with all the monogrammed items in his room! I ordered this a while back from etsy.com and it just came in - a sweet little bucket (maybe for Easter) with his name on it - too cute!

Sweet newborn socks - look how tiny they are!!

My project - I bought this letter "L" from Michael's craft store for cheap and decided to paint it to match his room. It was super easy and I think it came out great! Now...where to put it... :)

We are going to get a few more things checked off the list today, but then relax before the work week starts. Luckily, I am taking off Thurs and Fri to prepare for the shower - so I have a SUPER short week! We hope everyone has a wonderful Memorial Day and we are lifting our soldiers and their families up in prayer during this day - not forgetting the true meaning of this holiday weekend.

These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things...

Kelly's Korner is doing her Show Us Your Life Fridays and this week's topic is "Favorite Things or Things that make you happy." Well I have TONS of things that make me happy and I wanted to share some with you!

This handsome guy is on the top of my list - he makes me so happy and I just love spending time with him and being able to share my life with him. So Blessed :)

My New Love, Baby Logan - and I haven't even met him yet! Its crazy how you can care so much for someone who you haven't seen, met, or touched. Can't wait to meet this little guy in July!

I am at work so I don't have a family picture on this laptop - but my third favorite would be our dear family - our parents and extended family are so special to us - we are lucky to have such an amazing support system!!

Next up: my sweet sweet friends - look at these beautiful girls! I have some of the best girlfriends and just love them to pieces. Most of my best friends I have been close to since Elementary school. (missing from picture are Katherine and Amber) love these girls too!

Our Precious furry babies are definitely things that make my life complete- they strive daily to make us both happy and anyone else that comes into the house. Dogs are neat creatures - they just have this unconditional love that is overwhelming at times (when they want to be near you or on top of you always) but they are definitely our first babies :)

FALL!!! Oh how I love Fall - it is my FAVORITE time of the year because it starts the cool weather and holiday season! I love to decorate for holidays and just the feeling of this special season. I can't wait for September/October!!

I also love winter - Christmas - the meaning and the feeling of having family close by, warm by the fire, drinking hot coco and watching a movie with christmas lights all around the house. This little picture just makes me feel so comfy - at home. Love it!

Another thing I love about the holidays is you can get the tasty Pumpkin Spice Latte and Peppermint Mocha from Starbucks! Oh be still my heart - these are little slices of heaven that just melt in your mouth. Of course mine aren't this fun - I always get the non-fat, no whip to cut calories but I do let myself have 1 of the original full calorie drinks once a holiday season.

The Twilight Series is one of my favorite series of all time. I have read each of these books a few times and they never get old. Amazing amazing juicy stories - I love me some Edward and Bella!

CHAMPAGNE! Oh how I miss Mimosas for brunch since I have been pregnant. I will soon be able to become reacquainted with my old friend...until then, I can drool over this yummy pic

PINK! Anyway I can get it! Pink has been my favorite color for years - pink shoes, pink purses, pink clothes, pink jewerly, and even my closet is pink! (thanks to my sweet hubby) :)

CHEESE DIP!!!!!!!!!! I could live on this stuff - breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, and dinner. Oh, and dessert. This is such a simple thing that is easy to make - but it is soooooo delish!!

And then Mexican Food - Yumo. I could also live on this day in and day out. Cheese Enchiladas are my absolute favorite. Oooohhh I am getting HUNGRY!

There are many many other things that make me very happy - but I wanted to share a few with you! Enjoy your Memorial Day Weekend!

Nursery Part 2

The weekend is coming to an end - again. I feel like these weekends are shorter and shorter - and its getting H O T in Arkansas. Ugh. If it is already in the 90's in MAY - what the heck am I gonna do in July!?? I have no doubt you will find me inside in the cool air conditioning, resting on the couch, swollen feet propped up, sipping on water and iced tea for fear I might melt if I step outside for a second. And lets not even talk about the panty hose that I have to wear for work - that is a whole other situation I will have to deal with very soon...

We finally bought curtains for our guest bedroom and Nursery!! Yay! We found some killer sales at Bed Bath and Beyond this week and got these to match the guest bedroom for $14 bucks!

I wanted to match the bedding colors and actually buy our bedding fabric for curtains in the nursery - but geez they were expensive! The website charges $200 just for them to make you curtains to match, and if you buy the fabric - we priced it out - it would still cost roughly $100-150 for fabric and for someone to make them. Um, no thanks. I think these curtains look just fine-thank-you-very-much and they were only $29! I don't think Logan will mind a bit :)

The nursery is coming together nicely - here is the Chest of Drawers top with the cute lamp that matches the bedding. Amy made me the board and of course I will put pics of Mr. Logan once he arrives - then the sweet frame was from our Couples Shower - love it!!

Amber had this sign made for my Dallas shower - it matches perfectly and we hung it on his door!

His little book shelf - too cute! This clock above was actually a gift for my wedding shower - and it worked out perfectly that we get to use it for our baby boy's nursery!

The painted piggy bank and painted frame both came from etsy.com. (I think I mentioned that in a previous post) and I am just collecting little board books and classics for him as he grows.

I am still very much in love with his bedding, it makes me so excited to see it when I walk into the room!

Sweet Blessing Ring that Lauren and John gave to us for our Couples shower - we put all his cards he has received from the showers and in the mail, what a wonderful keepsake. :)

Another shot of the book shelf - and his cute hamper!

He will grow so quickly! I found this precious piece at Hobby Lobby for $2.00! Oh how I love a sale

We are slowly stocking up on diapers and wipes - every other time we go to walmart or the store we try to buy a box. We can always take a box back if we are in need of another size.

Yay! The Diaper Champ fits perfectly inside this space in his changing table/dresser. We couldn't have planned that better - hopefully this will help even more to keep the stinky diaper smell out!

Random pics from our Couples shower from my last post - here are Hannah and I. I love it - we look like Valentines Day with Red and Pink!

Sweet Hubby's! From the Left: Andrew, John, Trey, Luke, and Steven

They look precious - like a Prom Pose - haha
Things are going quite well - Logan is kicking and moving around more and more - he will punch me and I will push back - its a game we like to play :) We have our last birthing class tomorrow night and we talk about Epidurals and C-Sections - fun right? I think I can handle that more than the discussion about episiotomy's - I about passed out during that conversation. Whew! Is it hot in here or is it just me???
Have a Fab start to your week!!

Beautiful Couple's Shower!

Saturday we had our Couple's Shower that our very sweet friends threw for us in LR. It was such a special evening - we just had the BEST time sharing this blessing with everyone we love and we felt so very special. :) Somerset and Steven moved here from Tulsa and we are thrilled to have them in LR!!! It was hosted at their apartment in the evening and it was a casual cookout shower - get ready for tons of pics!

Super cute door wreath that Lauren and I bought together to share since we are both having boys this summer - we decided to use it for our showers too! Perfect touch :)

Yummy food table - MMMMMM we had BBQ from one of the best places in LR and it was delish!

Look at this gorgeous diaper cake Somerset made for us! It was breathtaking - perfect colors to match our bedding/color theme for the nursery. She seriously needs to start a business on the side - (in all her spare time right? ha!) She is super creative and talented!! Also - she hid goodies all through the cake for us to find - baby lotions, butt paste, paci's and all sorts of great items.

When we walked into the door we were greeted by this cute table where people could sign a frame for Logan to put in his room - such a sweet idea!

Beautiful food table - they did such an AMAZING job decorating - all the little touches added up to be so perfect.

sorry for the sideways pic - it wouldn't upload correctly ;)

Me and the beautiful hostesses: from left: Irene, Lauren, Me, Amber, and Somerset
I LOVE THESE GIRLS!!

Hubby and I

And just LOOK at this unbelievable cake - Rachel, Lauren's sister, makes gorgeous cakes and I was thrilled when she agreed to make one for our shower - it turned out too perfectly!

That little baby topper is too precious!

The Cake Queen and I (thank you Rachel!!!!)

Mr. Harley - Somerset and Steven's precious bulldog

We played the Dirty Diaper Game - hilarious! Here is Amber telling us the instructions and giving us a sneak peek of what was to come :)

YUM - right? (I think this was the Mound diaper) I got all but one right and I think Trey got every single candy correct!

Cake Time!!!
As you can see, Trey was too excited that Rachel made two different layers - the top was Carrot Cake his all time favorite, and the bottom is my favorite: yellow cake with chocolate frosting!

Amori and Scott - she is one of my Wonder Place girls that I used to work with - so glad they could come!
Gift time! Trey opened all the gifts since this is his only shower - we did the same for our Kitchen Shower since it was Couples when we were engaged. I think he really enjoyed his "time to shine" :)

Our Baby Book for Logan - Yay!!!

My dear penpal, Kaitlin and her husband Ray sent us a gift for us to open. It was so special to have them there in spirit (they live in Virginia). They gave us a sweet card, bottles, and The Giving Tree book - they wrote a very special note inside the book and I couldn't even read it for fear of crying hysterically. I saved it for when I got home and it will be a wonderful keepsake - thank you Kaitlin and Ray!!!!

Love me some monogrammed items!!!

Clearly I was excited or shocked, one or the other, about something that was occurring on the other side of the room - haha Priceless expression.

Beautiful Hannah

Irene and Luke

Amber and Andrew

Lauren and John

Danielle and Bruce

Somerset and Steven

The Two Preggers! Lauren and I touching tummy's - Logan and Austin will be best buds!

Me at 30 weeks!

I feel like I say this all the time - but only because it is so very true. We are just so blessed and lucky to have such amazing friends! We were surrounded by so much support and love on Saturday night it was incredible. My friends did such a fabulous job with the shower down to every detail. A huge THANKS to all my besties - you outdid yourselves and we are so very thankful for the shower for us and Logan. :)
We are spending the rest of the weekend trying to do a little more to the nursery and catching up on Mad Men. It is raining outside - no fun - so spending time with the pups and doing laundry is fine by us!
