Dear Fall, Where Are You??

I am a Fall lover - absolutely adore it, can't live without it, think and dream about it during the blazing hot summer days and hopelessly stare at my fall clothes in my closet just waiting for a hint of cool weather to breakout my tights and Uggs! It might not feel like Fall in Arkansas, but October 1st is approaching and darnnit - that screams Fall to me!!! :) I jumped the gun this weekend - yes - I got out my fall decorations before the end of September - I NEVER do that, but I desperately wanted to see some oranges, browns, and reds - so Trey got in the attic and carried my boxes down so I could start the decorating process. I also got out my bath and body works fall soaps - Spice and Pumpkin make washing hands VERY exciting - YAY!

I, of course, have way too much stuff - and I always forget what I have and it is like Xmas each year when I open my Fall boxes - I am constantly saying "Oh wow! I didn't remember that one" and "OMG I love this - thank God I bought it last year on sale!" So, here is a little sampling of what I am thinking about doing this year...

I am a big fan of the clear glass jars/bowls so that you can change out your decor seasonally - pears in one and fall foliage in the other. Pottery Barn is my BFF - they had these on sale this summer.

These are flowers I bought at Pier One, my other bestie, and I love those colors!

When Lauren and I were shopping a couple of weeks ago, I found this at Pier One and the twiggy's are looking right at home - once we trimmed them down and adjusted them, they are working well with everything else. ;)

Pier One again, this leaf plate was a good buy last year - I saw some this year too!

And I am having Firefly Studio make seasonal plates for me to display in my kitchen - I am no artist, and cannot draw or trace to save my life, so luckily the Do-It-Yourself Pottery place can draw for you! They created a summer beach scene, this cute Halloween plate, and then my Turkey Thanksgiving plate - loving it! (Yes, the wallpaper is screaming from behind the plate - our Tile guy is on track to start out remodel first of October! (Another reason to LOVE Fall!)

I am waiting on my Halloween village display/platform to arrive from eBay, then I will put my Department 56 Halloween village together - I am a collector of the Christmas series, but just started my Halloween collection.
The highlight of my weekend was that I got to see Taylor Swift in concert on Saturday night!! I went with my Wonder Place gals Julie and Cathleen - they introduced me to her fabulous CD "Fearless" months ago and I have been hooked ever since. I am not a huge country fan - but I love Taylor! She is sort of pop mixed with twang - plus she writes all of her songs from past experiences that all us girls can relate too. Her concert did NOT disappoint - she was

A-MAZING!!!! I don't go to many concerts, but when someone that I love comes into town - I definitely try to go...and I know every song on her CD. That almost never happens anymore - I might like one song, maybe two, but every single song? This girls is awesome! :)

I did not have my camera - I know I know, what in the world was I thinking? But here are some concert shots from google and were the exact outfits she wore and the same songs as last night.
The Love Story song was perfect - the intro was very cool and her voice is really great live.

Isn't she a doll?

Anyway, we were there - belting out every song in the middle of all the tweens and teeny boppers and we didn't care - she is THAT awesome. :)

We also got to have lunch with Irene and Luke on Saturday - they made a quick visit to LR to see her Brother so that was good to see them and catch up.
Well - that was my weekend wrap-up - hope yours was fabulous too! :)

In with the New....

Here are the pics of our new guest bedroom furniture - as promised! We bought this furniture back in June and it was back ordered until September! A LONG TIME... but it was such a good deal and we liked it so we decided - what the heck? We can wait a couple of months. Well, when you are trying to find nooks and cranny's to hide and store crap (excuse me, I meant precious items) you would be amazed at how little space you really have! SO, we are thrilled to death to finally get our furniture in!!!

Look at ALL this storage I now have! I am so excited to start organizing our bedroom drawers and moving some items into these beautiful babies!

We do not have any decor up yet in this room - but it is a work in progress ;)

So, other than that, we had a calm and lazy weekend. I watched Glee on Friday with Lauren (how fabulous was it!??) and went shopping. Oh, and we ate at this new mexican restaurant called Tico Cantina - Y U M M Y! It was delish!

Today, my work peeps and I went to take a preview tour of the World of the Pharaoh's exhibit that is going on at the Art Center from September 2009 - July 2010. The hotels and other people get a sneak preview so we can sell it more to groups and clients. It was pretty cool, not as neat as the King Tut exhibit, but still lots of history and great artifacts!

This weekend I am SO pumped because Taylor Swift is coming to LR for her concert!!!!! Some of my Wonder Place girls are going with me and I am way too excited!

Have a great week everyone!

Change is GREAT!

Hey everyone! It's still me! I wanted a blog update and have a fun header so I decided to contact Kelly, from Fabulous K Creative, to give me a new look. Isn't it adorable?? The website is http://fabulous-k.blogspot.com/ and she did a fabulous job - thanks Kelly!

Anyway - hope everyone enjoyed their weekend - we had a lazy weekend, but we did get our new guest bedroom furniture so I will post pics soon!

Oh, No He DIDN'T!

Oh lord, Kanye did it again. I am not surprised at all though - he seems to try and ruin every MTV awards by being a complete moron. But this time, he really over stepped his boundaries. Try to YouTube this if you can, but sweet Taylor Swift was accepting her first MTV award and she was thrilled to death and smiling from ear to ear. She was in the middle of her acceptance speech when Kanye jumps onstage and grabs the mic from her and says "I'm gonna let you finish your speech Taylor, but Beyonce's video was the best!" (or something to that effect).

UN-BELIEVABLE. I couldn't believe what I was watching! Everyone was so shocked and Taylor looked like she was about to cry so she just left the stage. I was so upset he did that in the first place, and especially to Taylor - she is AMAZING and the sweetest little thing. I hoped they ban him from the awards...seriously. It's sad, because I really do (or did) like his music, but his behavior is disgusting.

Anyway, in the very end, Beyonce actually won, i believe, best video of the year, well she got on stage and immediately asked Taylor to come back on and give her speech. Oh Beyonce - I love you! She seems like a very down to earth celebrity and definitely did the honorable thing by inviting Taylor back onstage to finsish accepting her award that she DESERVED! :) It was such a special and magical moment - at least someone has some class on that stage - you go Beyonce!

Also, they showed an extended trailer for New Moon and it looks PERFECT!!!!! I am sooooo excited I cannot wait for November!!!!

Okay - so I will get off my soap box of the dramatic awards and move onto our weekend. ;)

We had a pretty low key Sat and Sun. I got my hair done on Saturday, then went to lunch and shopping with Lauren to find pieces for my mantle. I found two great items from the cutest store! They are not arranged yet, but I wanted to show pics of what Ibought...

Then our fan for the guest bedroom came in on Friday, so Trey worked on fan installation which took a long time because some of the screws from our old fan were not wanting to budge. Finally it is up and looks wonderful! Its hard to tell from the pics, but the blades are black.

Other than that, we did our usual: washed clothes, folded towels, played with the pooches, and listened to the rain while cuddling on the sofa. Oh, and we had Whole Hog for dinner - YUM-O!

We All Need A Little Glee In Our Lives...

Well, its here! The season premiere of Glee - the new TV show that has singing, dancing, and DRAMA! I watched the special preview after AI in May and it was hilarious - very quirky - but interesting! Of course it made me want to see the season and it premiers tonight in 20 minutes!

Who's with me? Any of you out there watching Glee too? Feel free to drop me a line and let me know what you think!

This show really makes me wish I could sing - like - seriously sing...

Today I ran errands all day, but I did buy a shoe rack at BBB - thank goodness! I desperately needed some organization with my beloved besties, and from the picture below...

You can TELL that I had no method to the madness AT ALL. Pathetic. This is also on Trey's side of the bed and I know he is just THRILLED to wake up in the morning to find my crazy shoes sprawled out everywhere. Sorry Hunny! ;)

The new shoe rack... (and yes my closet walls are pepto bismol pink.... love it!)

And Ta Da... with my shoes neatly hanging! Voila - simple as that!

Back to work tomorrow, I have LOVED every second of my time off - but I only go back for two days then its the weekend! :) YAY!!!

Let's Hear It For: Meryl and Sandra...

I am a movie fanatic and we try to go every weekend to see a movie or two (sometimes three!) But we have been so busy with work this past year or so, that we don't go as often. But, this weekend, I saw two movies: All About Steve and Julie and Julia. Both were very good - in completely opposite ways.

Lauren and I went to go see All About Steve with Sandra Bullock and it was hilarious - so cute, and very poignant. It was a little sad at times, but overall a great movie. It ended positive (the way it should have) and we laughed all through the movie. Sandra did such a great job capturing this girl's personality - a role she has never done before, it was awesome.

Trey and I went to go see Julie and Julia after we heard so many wonderful things about this movie. Oh, it was simply Divine - so wonderful and such a feel good movie. We absolutely loved every minute of it! And let me just say that Meryl Streep did a phenomenal job - of course I love her in everything she is in, but seriously, from Devil Wears Prada to Julia Child - WHOA. Girl can act! "And the Award goes to...." is seriously in her future. ;)

Amy Adams did a great job too...

It is such an amazing story, and I was fascinated because I love blogs, and blog stalking, so I was very intrigued. For anyone who is interested, I have listed the links to the real Julie Powell's blogs from what the book and movie were based off of. And the other link is her recent blog postings - check them out! :)

Let's Hear it for LONG Weekends!

Well - this weekend has been fantastic - not only because we were both off today, Labor Day, but I am also off two more days for a grand total of... drum roll please... FIVE DAYS!!!!! It has been all too exciting - I don't quite know what to do :) I took two MOD comp days for Tues and Wed to give myself an extra long weekend!

So, we were kinda lazy Sat and some of Sunday. On Saturday, we went out with Bruce and his girlfriend, Danielle to Boscos for dinner then to the Flying Saucer for drinks. We were out pretty late, but had a great double date. I am so sorry I did not take pics of any of us - how awful! But of course I managed to take a picture of one of our drinks - go figure ;)

Today, we were very productive - Trey spent all day painting our front door a very pretty cranberry red, not too bright, but not too dark. (it was green before - should have taken a before picture) It turned out gorgeous! We are pleased with the look of the black shutters and red door on our white house - it looks like a different house! Amazing what a little paint will do :)

Notice Sophie in the pic? She always has to sneak in before I take the shot - can we say: center of attention?

Here is my new mat I bought at Bed Bath and Beyond a week or so ago - I didn't think about it at the time, but it actually goes well with the red door.

I cleaned out our guest bedroom closet - you can actually see the floor in the pic below! I organized everything into large container binds and stored them, ever so nicely, back into the closet. It is still packed, but neater - and there is a method to the madness. :)

I also washed all four loads of laundry and got a workout in, and also folder said laundry. WHOA. Who is this Domestic Woman? We went to Dixie Cafe for dinner tonight and are off to see Julie and Julia - I will let you know what I think... I have heard wonderful things! :)

Hope your labor day was fabulous and relaxing!
