Clean House.

Today I decided to go to my mom's house and start the process of cleaning out my old closet - yes, I still have tons of my crap - I mean stuff - at her house. Basically clothes, purses, and shoes that I haven't worn in 4 + years! Oh my. Well, it all started because I am getting the "boot" since Baby G is arriving this summer. My old bedroom will be where Baby G stays when he/she sleeps at Grandma's and my old closet needs to be ready for baby clothes.

So, my mom is out of town this weekend and I wanted to surprise her when she returns, so I went over and begun the cleaning process.

A few before pics - yes, it's messy!

And yes, all of that is MY stuff - where did I get all that??? Wow!
Here is the finished product - very proud of myself after just a couple of hours:

These are give-a-away bags - yay for me actually giving away items!

I did have fun and found tons of old shoes and clothes that I forgot I had. For example, look at these crazy plastic shoes - I believe I bought these for one of my high school dances - I cannot believe I actually wore these! haha

Now, these beauties are another story - this is the first item I purchased in New York City when Lauren and I went to visit Somerset when we were in college! Geez - at least 8 years ago!!! I absolutely loved these Steve Madden shoes and wore them to death - I cannot part with them. At that time I was into huge crazy shoes, I only bought chunky, creative shoes and these were perfect. I think I even wore these on my first date with Trey! Don't ask me why, I don't think I will wear them again, but who knows? They are going in the keepsake pile :)

Here are some shirts that I used to wear...

Don't know if you remember these shirts, but when Newlyweds was on MTV (Nick and Jessica Simpson) Trey and I watched that show all the time, I even bought the DVDs because we were very much like them (well, minus the completely stupid comments made by Jessica) But I found this on eBay and loved it. I think there were tons like this for different celebrities.

Ahhh, yes, I was definitely a Shopaholic considering it took me 2 hours to clean out clothes of the closet - yes, clothes only. It only took me 10 minutes to clear out the shoes.

Don't you just LOVE Jem and the Misfits??? I had a Jem barbie that had earrings that lit up and watched the cartoon religiously. Love this shirt - def a keeper.

Remember when the monogram purses and shirts were popular a few years ago? I had so many "M" items it was insane - brings back memories...

I bought this shirt in Texas one trip years ago - I love milkshakes and had to have this one. I wore it all the time until I realized what "milkshake" meant. I promptly stopped. (remember the song, "my milkshake brings all the boys to the yard..." um yeah.)

Luke and Irene were in town for an hour or so and called for us to go to dinner with them at Mac Grill. It was so great to see them! I miss them so much.

YUMMY Food!

Super yummy dessert!

Precious Friends...

I had a pretty productive day - but am exhausted! I think Trey and I are just going to watch a movie or two at home with the pups.
I will definitely be posting on Monday - hopefully we will get the Big News about whether Baby G is a Girl or Boy!!!!!! Keep your fingers crossed that we will be able to find out :)

Meet My New BFF.....

Yes, you are seeing the picture correctly. I want to introduce you to my new bestie: Tums. Oh it has been a lifesaver - my friend Lauren, who is also pregnant, has been taking them and she is roughly 13 weeks along. I haven't had an issue with heartburn, indigestion or acid reflux at all, until a few nights ago. Whew and it hit me hard! I really haven't ever had problems with any of these but I have had some fierce heart burn and indigestion the past two days! So, I ran out to Walgreens and bought a big ole bottle of berry tums. I also bought a small travel size for my purse. As soon as I popped two of those beauties into my mouth I almost immediately felt better. Ahhhhhh, relief! :)
Also, I was talking to a client yesterday and opened my mouth to respond and out came a large belch without warning! Oh the words embarassed and mortified don't even begin to cover the feeling that came over me at that moment. I quickly apologized and explained that I was pregnant and the sweet lady said "say no more. my baby is a year old and I totally understand. These things happen." God bless her. God bless moms who understand what that feels like. I think I was a dark shade of red the rest of the day....
In other news, I am definitely starting to gain weight now. I did great the first trimester and really until a week ago I had only gained 2 pounds since I found out I was pregnant! My Doctor even asked me if I was eating at my 16 week appointment, which I quickly assured her I was not starving myself, or Baby G, by any means. I was sick the first trimester, so I am sure that had something to do with the lack of weight gain.
Anyway, I was all excited and feeling good and proud of myself when I stepped on the scale this morning and to my horror I had gained 4 pounds in a week! WHOA. Hold the phone. I have been eating the same as always, though I did polish off a box of Godiva for V Day... and a Baskin Robbins ice cream cake - hum.... could that be the culprit?
I also know that Baby G is growing daily, as my bump has definitely formed a little more as I look down at my dress. Where did that come from? So, I am thinking it is catching up - and I am also convinced that my 4 pound increase is all Baby G. Yes, that's it.
I am doing well - still feeling really good and my house is still clean. Ahhh, I heart the Second Trimester!

Turnips Anyone?

Baby G is the size of a turnip this week - week 17! I am thinking one of the smaller turnips - not the bigger one... haha

Our baby can move his/her joints and the sweat glands are starting to form. The skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone. How cool! I am still not feeling any movement - but I do lay very still at night to see if I can feel a little whirl of movement - maybe in a week or so...
Trey and I went to see the movie Valentines Day last night for Date Night last night and it was soo good! Very sweet, funny, and had a good ending - just the way I like it!

Before the movie we had to kill some time so we went to Barnes to look at books, I picked out a Baby Bargains book that I have heard is great. We also went into the Children's Books for the first time and we found some good deals! We had so much fun pointing out books that were special to us when we were little or books that our moms read to us. We discovered that we both LOVED Amelia Bedelia books!!! She was hilarious and I remember laughing when my mom and I would read her books. We bought an easter-ish book - Peter Rabbit and two Amelia books to start out collection.

They also had a shelf of Berenstain Bear books - I had a collection when I was younger and I definitely want to start one for my kids. While I was looking at books I almost teared up thinking of how I would be reading to my little one soon enough!
Happy Tuesday! :)

Just Me and My Valentine (and Baby G)

Love is in the air. Can you feel it? Its magic - the sweet embrace of loved ones? Ahhh, I love that feeling and am so blessed to have that feeling from my dear husband, friends, and family.

We had a fantastic low key Valentines Day! We exchanged little gifts and sweet cards. I love cards - I am a card person. I love the process of picking them out and finding that perfect card that says exactly what you want it to say - sometimes I search days, or weeks and go to 5 different stores before I find that right card to express what I want to say. I have definitely made homemade cards before too. Trey finds good cards too - he always finds a unique and impressive card that just blows me away and brings a tear to my eye.

Here is our setup below - I bought him love fortune cookies dipped in chocolate that have sweet sayings inside each one. His favorite food is Chinese so I knew he would appreciate these. I told him to just save money and buy me Russel Stovers chocolates - and not a big box. I am more of a fan of giving gifts, not receiving. But, he went above and beyond and bought me a large box of Godiva (my favorite!) and I was shocked - his thought process was that with a baby on the way, next year - or for the next few years for that matter - (18 years?!) that we couldn't spend big on holidays, so he wanted to do an extra something for this V Day. How sweet is that? :)

Y U M - don't those look absolutely sinful?? Don't worry - I am practicing willpower and only eating a few a day so I don't send Baby G into sugar shock! ha!

Trey and his fortune cookie...

And my belly has definitely grown! Here is my 16 week picture - almost 17 weeks! Of course I had also just eaten a full meal - but here it is - Baby G at 16 1/5 weeks!

Sophie - sweet girl

Don't ask what came over me - I can't explain it, honestly. But I had been thinking about Baskin Robbins Ice Cream Cakes all day - actually for two days - and I couldn't shake the thought. I wanted one soooo bad - how weird is that? I never eat ice cream cakes - I don't even really like them - I never eat ice cream scoops with my cake - never. I blame it all on Baby G - apparently he/she loves mint chocolate ice cream and cake all wrapped up together and that is why I had this insane craving. So, off we go to the ice cream shop and picked out this beauty!

Here it is - a yummy slice of ice cream cake - of course Trey was in heaven - he loves these cakes and I haven't had one since I was little at a birthday party probably at Showbiz! haha

Hopefully my craving for dessert is coming to an end - I haven't really been a fan of chocolate or dessert since I became pregnant which is crazy for the non-pregnant me. I am a dessert lover normally - I don't indulge daily, by any means, but I could eat a snickers or Reece's cup daily if allowed. ;) But Baby G was not having that - I haven't even really thought about chocolate or sweets since getting pregnant until now - second trimester - the one where you are supposed to love food again. Bitter Sweet.
We stayed in this V Day since it is Sunday and we knew it would be a madhouse at all restaurants! Trey cooked a Delicious Mexican dinner for me complete with a great enchilada, homemade Mexican rice and yummy cheesey beans! It was his first attempt and it came out wonderful - what a nice relaxing evening.

It even snowed today for an hour or so - how crazy is that? Huge, big flakes of snow. It was much to warm for it to stick, but it sure was pretty!
Tomorrow is Date Night and we plan on going to see the new Valentines Day movie - Yay!
Happy Valentines Day to you all!

Love Sweet Love. And Eggs.

Its Valentines Day Weekend and I am READY for this work day to be over with! I know I have had two snow days this week - so technically only worked 3 days, but it has seemed to DRAG on forever.

Yesterday, I received eggs from a guy that I work with. He has chickens at his house and they finally started laying eggs. Trey and I have been excited to try some of these natural, fresh colorful eggs! I am an egg-lover, but don't eat them as much as I would like. Mainly laziness of the morning - not wanting to cook them for breakfast and I totally forget about eggs for dinner. I do love a yummy meal of eggs and toast - sometimes bacon! MMMMM, delish.

Anyway, so here they are -in all their beautiful glory - so pretty and fresh. We can't wait to try them!!

Sorry, the pic would not turn the correct way when I saved it - whoops!

Look at those pink eggs - love it!

Ahhhh, love is in the air! I love almost every holiday, but Valentines Day has always been a fun one - very whimsical and of course filled with love! Even when I was in Junior High/high school I loved V-Day. I must admit, I almost always had a boyfriend or love interest (and great friends) to share it with so that definitely helped, I know not everyone has fond memories of Love Day. But I still have mementos from years past, hand made valentines cards - poems, love notes, etc. I am definitely a keeper of memories! :)

But, this time in my life is by far the best - I have the love of my life that I get to spend this fabulous holiday with and a baby on the way. (It will be so fun to dress up that precious Baby G next year!!!!) Trey and I won't do anything big this year, but we will have dinner and exchange sweet cards and maybe chocolates - yum! We are typically not too creative because we save that for our anniversaries :)

Here is my Love Sweet Love plate in my kitchen - it makes my heart melt....

Front Door has the pink heart and heart mat...ahhhhhh

And then there is my inspiration for my Love Plate in the kitchen - this gorgeous garden flag! How adorable is that??? And look - you can still see the beautiful white snow!

I am ready for the Day of Love - we might even have our pink eggs to celebrate!

Baby G (AKA the Avocado)

I am 16 weeks - wow how the days have flown by! Baby G is doing great - very healthy and has a strong heartbeat of 148 beats per minute. It is always so neat to hear that little beating heart - such a calming experience. As soon as I hear it I instantly breathe a sigh of relief.

Baby G is the size of a Avocado - one of my favorite foods!

In the next few weeks the baby will double the weight and add inches to its length. So i guess that means I will really start to show in a week or two! I still just have a tiny bump - easily hidable in clothes and I can still wear most of my outfits, except buttoning jeans. But that is what my tummy sleeve is for! :)
My Doctor asked me if I have felt Baby G yet and I said no. She said it should happen in the next few weeks - most women can start to feel babies around week 18 and definitely by week 20. That is very exciting! I can't even imagine what it will feel like - very surreal - I hear it is like butterflies, or popping popcorn in your tummy. Or a gas bubble. Haha!
12 more days and then we will know weather we buy pink or blue clothes!!!!! Yay!!!

2/8/10

Unexpected Winter Wonderland!

HAPPY SNOW DAY!!! We get another snow day and I couldn't be more excited!!! I figured we would only have that one day a week or so ago, but the Weather Gods had plans - thank goodness - I can always use a day or two off work!

It has probably snowed 4-6 inches and it just stopped to start raining or sleeting - BUT - it is sooo beautiful! We haven't had a snow like this in years - definitely my idea of a winter wonderland.

Our neighborhood - looking down our street from my house

Trey shoveling snow so we could run to Walgreens to pick up my prescription.

Look! Not a few minutes later and this much collected over where he just shoveled!

Precious pooches staring at the snow falling

We finally ventured out to go down the street and here is what we saw

A Fedex truck and a large 18 wheeler caught blocking the entire road!

Cars stuck everywhere - thank goodness for 4 wheel drive!

Yay! We made it to walgreens - now to make it back home...

Look at that pretty snow falling - I love it!

Praise the Lord we made it home safely last night from our trip to San Antonio! I am off to enjoy the rest of my snow day and will hopefully continue to enjoy it tomorrow too :)

San Antonio for the Weekend...

We unexpectedly went to San Antonio, Texas this past weekend for a funeral. Trey's Welita Jane passed away this week and we drove Thursday to make it to her funeral on Friday. It was such a sad time for him and the family, but we were very glad to be able to make it there for the service.

My MIL graciously watched Soph for us and we took Bella on the road since my mom was going to be flying to SA to see my dad this weekend. Bella has always been a fantastic road doggie - we took her everywhere when she was little, a couple of beach vacations, texas trips, and more. She is so pleasant and just sits/sleeps nicely in her crate the entire way.

Bella on her potty break:

Here she is once we arrived at my dad's apartment in SA. She was so tired - long 9 hour drive from LR to SA!

On the way down we always try to stop at a favorite: Whataburger! It is sooo yummy and we don't have one in LR so we take advantage in Texarkana.

Friday, we went to lunch with my parents at a super delish mexican restaurant and then went to a Baby store where mom found gender neutral cute onsies and bibs at a major deal!
Trey and I went back to the apart to change and then went to the funeral service. It was very nice and I got to meet most of the family. It was so special for Trey to be there and an honor for me to be able to attend.

We went to dinner at an Italian Restaurant which was great and went to see the movie Legion. Um, it was okay - but pretty scary!!

The next day, Saturday, we went to eat at the Cheesecake Factory for lunch - YUM - my FAVORITE!!! There is always so much to chose from but the meals never disappoint and neither does their cheesecake!

Trey had the Red Velvet Cheesecake

And I had blueberry white chocolate! A little slice of heaven!

We went to walk around the mall a bit to burn off that cheesecake and I finally bought a maternity tummy sleeve to fit around jeans that no longer button, but you can still fit into. Yes, its depressing to have clothes not fit, however, it is for a great reason and I keep telling myself that. :)

This little thing can fit around your expanding belly and boobs - so I hear. Can't wait to try it on!

Trey and I at the apartment before going out to dinner with Claudia, Alex, and Stephen. We met them at a yummy Japanese Restaurant and they did have great avocado rolls and edamme. It was so good to see them and catch up - the kids are growing so much - Alex will graduate in 2 years! Geez we feel old! It is scary for me to think that when she graduates we will have a 2 year old! OH MY. I am horrible and didn't get a single picture of us - my pregnancy brain is in full effect - what can I say? ;)

Sunday we drove home, but we did get to stop at our favorite mexican fast food restaurant: Taco Cabana! Soooooooo goooooood!! (and super cheap!)

So, I didn't get very many pics of us or family - shame. on. me. But we did have a nice time with everyone - despite my lack of photos. An unexpected, yet pleasant weekend!

An Apple Today...

Well - I have a Bump! I tried to take a few pics, but I am wearing black (sorry work clothes) and I am not sure if you can really see what I see in the mirror - but hopefully you can tell there is a little something there. :)

My stomach is so hard - I press it at night while I am laying down and it is so firm - very strange. Baby G is growing so much!

This week at 15 weeks and Baby G is the size of an apple! How cute is that? Another interesting fact, he/she is light sensitive - the eyes are still shut, but if you shine a flashlight at the tummy, the baby is likely to move away from the light! Whoa!

I haven't had any weird cravings, mainly normal stuff with cravings times 10 - like I really was dying for Spaghetti and meat sauce yesterday. That is all I could think about - and I normally don't eat plain ole spaghetti, but Trey made me some yummy pasta with sauce and it was AMAZING!!!
Next week is our Doctor's appt and we will get to hear the heart beat again - cannot wait!
Happy February (Love) Month! :)
